A MAJOR CHALLENGE
The Hospital has no structure for Accident and Emergency Unit. However, due to the high attendance rate of accident and other emergency cases, the hospital is forced to create a miniature Accident and Emergency unit which has four bed capacity.

Averagely the so called Casualty unit receives twelve (12) patients per day and 300 patients per month.
From 7th January, 2013, when this Casualty was established up to 26th March, 2014, the Casualty has received 4,223 accident and emergency cases.

It is sad to know that most of these cases who are children, students and pregnant mothers sit in plastic chairs to receive infusions due to lack of space.

This unacceptable situation affects quality healthcare delivery at the Casualty unit.

Hospital management will like to bring this sordid situation to attention of all Nzema’s especially natives of Jomoro District who live in Ghana and Abroad to come to the aide of Half Assini Government Hospital to arrest this unacceptable situation so as to offer better healthcare to the residents of Jomoro and other adjoining Districts.

Hospital management is afraid that if something is not done and in case of any major accident or emergency cases, there is no doubt that the Hospital will be helpless.

OTHER CHALLENGES
1.The hospital has only one medical Doctor who does consulting, daily ward rounds and the surgical operations at the theatre.

2. Inadequate accommodation for staff does not entice critical health officers to the hospital

3.The hospital is not fenced. As a result:
i Patient relatives visit the wards at anytime
ii. Thieves take advantage of the several entry points to steal the nurses and other health workers whiles on duty.
iii. Stray animals especially cattle disturb the peace of the staff, patients and other
clients.

APPEAL
The hospital appeals to:
1.Western Nzema traditional council
2.Half Assini Traditional authority
3.Jomoro District Assembly
4.All Nzema’s especially the natives of Jomoro district both home and abroad

To assist Half Assini Government Hospital to secure an effective and fully functional accident and emergency unit so as to cater for any eventual mass casualty.
