The Ebola outbreak in West Africa has now been declared an international health emergency by the World Health Organization.

More than 3000* people have died from the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria are the hardest hit while even other countries are on high alert.

Ebola is one of the most virulent diseases known. There is no vaccine or cure.

The Nzema Youth Association  is ready with a huge sensitization campaign in all three districts of Nzema. Our campaigns will include:

  • Running public health information campaigns
  • Providing educational kits
  • Setting-up hand-washing stations at schools, markets and other public facilities to help aid in regular hand washing to keep families safe.

With your support as usual we look forward for a successful educational period ! Support Us to help us save Lives !

*According to World Health Organization, 23rd September 2014.

The recent outbreak of cholera in some our region has led to several casualties. Cholera is an acute diarrhoeal infection caused by ingestion of food or water contaminated with the bacterium Vibrio cholerae which is mostly transmitted through the contamination of water or food with faeces. The disease is a prevalent risk in many countries, with a high rate of occurrence in areas of where water supply, sanitation, food safety, and hygiene are inadequate.

Cholera is preventable.
Against this background we are organizing an intensive awareness campaign about cholera its causes and preventions among our people. We are organizing this education to help a change in attitude towards hygiene and ways of improving general cleanliness in our societies.

This year, the Nzema Maanle Council has suspend the celebrations of Kundum Festivals across Nzema to use the occasion to embark on the campaign against the incidence of the above-mentioned menace, (i.e. Ebola Scare and Cholera spread) in collaboration with DEQ CHANGE FOUNDATION AND NZEMA YOUTH ASSOCIATION.

The programme involves community education with a team of Health Environmental Officers, Social Services Committee of the District Assemblies and all other relevant heath stake-holders.
